Taurus Venus and Pisces Venus compatibility starts with a rare fact. In both signs, the old books say Venus is strong. Taurus is one of her two homes. Pisces is the sign where she is exalted, or held in honor. Only three pairs of different Venus signs put both partners in a strong seat, and this is one of them.
This page adds what the sky shows. We ran Venus and the Sun from 1600 to 2400 to see how common the pair is and which Sun signs sit behind each Venus. We also look at the sextile between the two signs, measured in real degrees. And we give two readings of Ptolemy, because his rules point two ways for Taurus and Pisces.
One point first. Astrology is not a science. No study has shown that Venus signs predict how a couple will do. Read this as a lens for talking about love, not as a forecast.
Two strong seats for Venus
Your Venus sign is the sign Venus was in when you were born. In astrology it shows what you find lovely and how you like to be loved. The tradition also ranks each sign for each planet. Some signs let a planet act in its own style. Others make it work in a foreign one. For Venus, the list is short.

Now look at this pair. In Taurus, Venus is the owner of the house. She sets the rules. Taurus is an earth sign, so her taste there runs to touch, food, comfort and things that last. Our page on Venus in Taurus covers this style in depth.
In Pisces, the house belongs to Jupiter in the old scheme. Venus is not the owner there. She is a guest of honor, and the host treats her well. Ptolemy gives a reason in Book I of the Tetrabiblos. Venus is moist by nature, he says, so she grows strong in Pisces, where the moist spring begins. Our page on Venus in Pisces explains the peak degree that later writers gave her.
So both Venuses are strong, but in two different ways. One is strong by ownership. The other is strong by welcome. That is a useful picture for the couple. The Taurus Venus knows what it likes and builds it. The Pisces Venus takes in what the other person likes and adds warmth to it.
The three pairs with two strong seats are Taurus with Libra, Taurus with Pisces, and Libra with Pisces. Of the three, only Taurus and Pisces form a friendly aspect. Taurus and Libra are five signs apart. Libra and Pisces are five signs apart too. Neither of those pairs forms a sextile.
A smaller rank adds to the picture. Ptolemy gives each element a set of rulers, called triplicity rulers. Venus has a share in the earth signs and in the water signs. So she has a voice in Taurus and in Pisces on that count as well. It is a minor rank, but it points the same way.
How common the pair is
Venus does not spend the same time in each sign. She speeds up and slows down as seen from Earth, and she turns back now and then. Over 800 years, the shares still settle close to one in twelve.

Taurus is the second most common Venus sign of all. Only Cancer beats it. Pisces sits right in the middle.
Pick two people at random. The chance that one has Venus in Taurus and the other has Venus in Pisces is 1.43 percent. That is about one couple in 70. It ranks 13th of the 78 Venus pairs. Among the twelve sextile pairs, it is the fourth most common.
The gaps between pairs are small. Among pairs of two different signs, the most common and the rarest differ by only 14 percent. So rank here is a detail, not a verdict. It tells you the pair is ordinary in number. What makes it stand out is the rank of each Venus and the Sun signs behind them.
The Sun signs behind each Venus
Seen from Earth, Venus never strays far from the Sun. We measured the widest gap at 47.28 degrees. So each Venus sign can only sit with five Sun signs. Here they are for this pair, as a share of all people with that Venus.

The two lists overlap on three signs: Pisces, Aries and Taurus. That matters. It means these partners can share a Sun sign, which is not true of every Venus pair. For some pairs, such as a Virgo Venus with a Pisces Venus, the two lists never meet at all.
How many share one? Multiply the shares for each common sign and add them up. Two Aries Suns come to 8.48 percent of these couples. Two Taurus Suns come to 2.21 percent. Two Pisces Suns come to 2.01 percent. In total, 12.7 percent of Taurus Venus and Pisces Venus couples share a Sun sign. That is about one couple in eight.
Aries is the key sign here. It is a large group on both lists. An Aries born in the spring can carry either Venus, depending on the year. Venus sits ahead of the Sun in some years and behind it in others.
The most likely Sun pair is one Aries Sun and one Taurus Sun. It covers 9.74 percent of these couples, a little under one in ten. We count it both ways: the Aries partner can hold either Venus. An Aries Sun with a Pisces Sun comes next, at 9.23 percent. These are leans, not rules. No single Sun pair covers even one couple in ten.
One more figure. In 41.72 percent of these couples, at least one partner has Venus in their own Sun sign. That means a Taurus Sun with a Taurus Venus, or a Pisces Sun with a Pisces Venus. The sextile in real degrees
Taurus and Pisces sit two signs apart. That makes a sextile, an angle of 60 degrees. Astrologers read the sextile as easy and friendly. But a sign is 30 degrees wide. So two Venuses two signs apart can be anywhere from 30 to 90 degrees apart in fact.
An orb is the slack an astrologer allows around an exact angle. We used the real spread of Venus inside each sign, in steps of a tenth of a degree. Here is the share of couples whose two Venuses sit within each orb of 60 degrees.

So at a common 8 degree orb, fewer than half of these couples have a true sextile by degree. The rest have a sextile by sign only. Many astrologers still count the sign link. Others want the degrees close.
There is a twist at the edges. Take a Venus late in Taurus and a Venus early in Pisces. They can sit close to 90 degrees apart. That is a square, a tense angle, across the sign line. At an 8 degree orb, 3.57 percent of these couples have one. For them, the friendly sign link hides a harder link by degree.
What Ptolemy says about Taurus and Pisces
Ptolemy wrote the Tetrabiblos in Alexandria around 150 AD. In Book I, chapter 13, he names four aspects: the opposition, the trine, the square and the sextile. He calls the sextile and the trine harmonious. His reason is simple. They join signs of the same kind. Taurus and Pisces are both feminine signs in his scheme, so they fit.
In chapter 14, he adds a second tie. Signs at the same distance from an equinox sign are said to command and obey. He says they rise in the same time and lie on matching paths north and south. The sign in the summer half commands. The sign in the winter half obeys.
Here the two readings part ways.
- By whole sign. Frank Robbins, who made the standard English version in 1940, lists the pairs sign by sign. Taurus and Pisces each sit one sign from Aries. Taurus is in the summer half, so Taurus commands. Pisces is in the winter half, so Pisces obeys.
- By degree. Take 10 degrees Taurus. Its mirror across the equinox is 20 degrees Aquarius, not a point in Pisces. By this rule, Taurus pairs with Aquarius, and Pisces pairs with Aries.
William Lilly, in Christian Astrology in 1647, used the degree rule. He called the mirror point a contra-antiscion. For this pair, mirror Venuses only happen at the very edges of the signs. At a 3 degree gap, 0.50 percent of couples have one. At a 1 degree gap, 0.05 percent do. So by degree, this tie almost never applies.
Both readings claim Ptolemy. The whole-sign list follows how Robbins set it out. The degree rule follows the reason Ptolemy gives. We give both, because the old books do not settle it. Either way, command and obey is a label for day length. It is not a rule for who leads in a home.
One more tie is missing. In chapter 15, Ptolemy names signs that behold each other, where the days last the same length. By whole sign, Taurus pairs with Virgo and Pisces with Scorpio. By degree, Taurus mirrors Leo and Pisces mirrors Libra. So Taurus and Pisces do not behold each other in either reading. Their clear bond is the sextile.
How the pair plays out
Read as symbols, the two Venuses bring different gifts. Taurus is earth and fixed, which means it holds a season steady. Pisces is water and mutable, which means it closes a season and adjusts. Earth gives water a shape. Water keeps earth from going dry.
The Taurus Venus shows love through presence. It cooks, it holds hands, it keeps the date it made. It likes the same good thing done well, many times. The Pisces Venus shows love through feeling. It picks up moods before they are spoken. It forgives fast and gives without keeping score.

- The Pisces Venus can feel boxed in by a fixed routine.
- Both like a slow pace in love, with time to settle in.
- Both enjoy the senses: music, food, touch and a calm room.
A useful habit is to split the roles on purpose. Let the Taurus partner pick the place and keep the plan. Let the Pisces partner set the mood and read the room. Each gets to lead in the area where Venus is strong for them.

What the evidence says
The largest test of sign matches used the 2001 census of England and Wales. The sociologist David Voas looked at 10.3 million married couples. He found no effect of Sun signs on who marries whom. A small excess of same-sign couples came from errors in the data. His paper, “Ten million marriages,” came out in 2007. It tested Sun signs. No test of that size exists for Venus signs.
So two strong Venuses are not a promise. This page gives the sky behind the label, and the old rules in their own words. A couple still has to do the work.
How we measured
We used two methods that share no code. The first used the Astronomy Engine library. It found each time Venus and the Sun entered a sign from 1600 to 2400, to a tenth of a second, and added up the time. The second used the Swiss Ephemeris. It checked the sign of Venus every hour, on a grid set half an hour off the first. That is more than seven million points. Neither drew random numbers. On the Venus figures, they agree within 0.01 points.
A long window matters. Venus repeats its path about every eight years, and a short span tilts the count. The couple figures assume two people born at unrelated moments. The degree shares use the real spread of Venus inside each sign. All values use the tropical zodiac, seen from Earth.
