Libra Venus and Libra Venus compatibility puts two people with Venus in the same sign, and that sign is one of her two homes. Libra starts at the autumn equinox, the point where day and night are equal and the Sun crosses into the southern half of the sky. Venus rules it. So both partners hold her at full strength.
We tracked Venus and the Sun from 1600 to 2400 to put numbers on this pair. This page gives the counts, the Sun signs behind a Libra Venus, and what Ptolemy wrote about the sign. Read it as a lens for talking about love, not as a forecast. Astrology is not a science, and no study has shown that Venus signs predict how a couple will do.
Venus at her equinox home
Your Venus sign is the sign Venus was in when you were born. In astrology it shows what you find lovely and how you like to be loved. The old authors gave each planet a rank in each sign. A home, or domicile, is a sign the planet rules. An exaltation is a sign where it is honored. The fall and the detriment are its two weak places.

Ptolemy hands out the homes in Book I, chapter 17, of the Tetrabiblos. Venus gets Libra and Taurus, two signs he calls “extremely fertile.” They sit two signs from the homes of the Sun and Moon. That fits a planet that, in his words, “is never more than two signs removed from the sun.”
Libra holds other guests too. In chapter 19, Ptolemy makes Libra the exaltation of Saturn, the planet of limits and time. The Sun has its fall there, as the days grow shorter. So the sign mixes Venus with a taste for rules and fair measure.
Only three of the 78 Venus pairs set both Venuses at home. Two Taurus Venuses do it. A Taurus Venus with a Libra Venus does it. This pair is the third. It is also the only pair of two cardinal air signs in one place. Cardinal signs open a season. Air signs, in the old scheme, deal in words and ideas.

How common this pair is
Venus does not spend equal time in each sign. About every 19 months, it seems to move backward for six weeks, which astrologers call retrograde. Venus repeats its path on an eight-year cycle, so a short span of years can skew the count. We used eight full centuries.

Now pick two people at random. What is the chance that both have Venus in Libra? We square the share of one sign. The answer is 0.69 percent, or about one couple in 144. That ranks 72nd of the 78 Venus pairs.
Why so low? A same-sign pair can form only one way. A pair of two different signs can form two ways, so it counts double. That is why all twelve same-sign pairs sit near the bottom of the list. Among those twelve, two Libra Venuses rank sixth.
One sign, and how close the two Venuses sit
When two planets share a sign, astrologers call it a conjunction by sign. But a sign spans 30 degrees. So two Libra Venuses can sit anywhere from 0 to 30 degrees apart. An exact conjunction is 0 degrees. The margin allowed around an aspect is called the orb.

These values are almost the same for every Venus pair. So they are not a trait of this couple. They do show one thing. By sign, every such couple is a conjunction. By degree, about half are.
Ptolemy’s mirror rules, read two ways
Ptolemy also linked signs that mirror each other. He gives two such rules in Book I, and each can be read in two ways. The first reading uses whole signs. The second uses exact degrees. Frank Robbins, whose Loeb edition is the standard English text, sets out the whole-sign pairs in his notes.
Chapter 14 names signs that “command” and “obey.” They sit at equal distance from an equinox, so they rise over the horizon in equal time. By whole signs, Robbins lists the pairs in his note 80. Libra and Aries are left out, since the count starts from them. By exact degrees, the mirror runs across 0 degrees Libra itself. Each degree of Libra then mirrors a degree of Virgo.
Chapter 15 names signs that “behold” each other and are of equal power. They sit at equal distance from a solstice, so the Sun gives them days of equal length. By whole signs, Robbins’s note 83 pairs Libra with Aries. By exact degrees, the mirror runs across 0 degrees Cancer. A degree of Libra then mirrors a degree of Pisces.
So Libra’s partners under these rules are Aries, Virgo or Pisces, never Libra. Two Libra Venuses do not need them. They already share a sign. We did find one small edge case. When both Venuses sit in the first few degrees of Libra, right on the equinox point, they mirror each other across it. That happens in 0.52 percent of couples at a 3 degree margin, about one in 190.
Which Sun signs sit behind a Libra Venus
Venus never strays far from the Sun, as seen from Earth. We measured the widest gap at 47.28 degrees, less than two signs. So a Libra Venus can only go with five Sun signs. The table shows the split, as a share of all people with Venus in Libra.

Fewer than one Libra Venus in four is a Libra Sun. More of them are Virgo Suns, and almost as many are Scorpio Suns.
The likeliest Suns are a Virgo and a Scorpio
Now combine two partners. We multiplied the Sun sign shares for each and grouped the results. Order does not matter: a Virgo with a Scorpio counts once.

Two Libra Suns come only sixth. Two Virgo Suns and two Scorpio Suns are both more likely. The top pair, a Virgo and a Scorpio, has Venus one sign ahead of one Sun and one sign behind the other. Even so, it covers only one couple in six. So treat any “typical” couple as a lean, not a rule.
How do the two Suns line up? We grouped the Sun pairs by the angle between them.

So the partners share a Sun sign in about one couple in four. In the other three, the Suns differ, but they stay close. They never sit opposite each other.
Two Libra Suns are a different couple
Many readers land here because they are two Libra Suns. Does that make them this Venus pair? Not always. Venus shares the Sun’s sign in 23.62 percent of birth moments, across all signs. Turn it around. In 41.5 percent of Libra Venus couples, at least one partner has Venus in their own Sun sign. That ranks 51st of the 78 pairs. In 5.53 percent, both do. A free birth chart shows your Venus sign. If Venus sits near the edge of a sign, the birth time can decide it.
How the tradition reads this couple
None of what follows has been tested. It is how the tradition reads the pair.
- Shared ground. Both love through fairness, good manners and a pleasing setting. Neither needs to explain why taste matters.
- Pace. Libra is cardinal, so both like to start things. Both also weigh every side before they choose.
- The mirror. Each sees their own charm in the other. That can feel easy, and it can feel like no one steers.
- The sore spot. Both avoid open conflict. Small wants can go unsaid until they pile up.
A simple habit helps. Take turns being the one who decides, one choice at a time. Say a plain no when you mean no. Two people who value peace can still keep it honest.
Saturn’s exaltation adds a note. Read in the old way, a Libra Venus loves with a sense of fair terms. Two of them can build a shared rulebook for the home. It works best when both write it out loud.

What the evidence says
The largest test of sign matches used the 2001 census of England and Wales. The sociologist David Voas looked at 10.3 million married couples. He found no effect of Sun signs on who marries whom. A small excess of same-sign couples came from errors in the data. His paper, “Ten million marriages,” came out in 2007. It tested Sun signs only. No test of that size exists for Venus signs.
So a double home is not a promise. This page shows the sky behind the label.
How we measured
We used two methods that share no code. The first used the Astronomy Engine library. It found each time Venus and the Sun entered a sign from 1600 to 2400, to a tenth of a second, and added up the time. The second used the Swiss Ephemeris. It checked the sign of Venus every hour, on a grid set half an hour off the first. That is more than seven million points. Neither method drew random numbers. On the Venus figures, the two agree within 0.01 points.
Pair odds assume two people born at unrelated moments. The Sun pair figures multiply each partner’s Sun sign shares. The degree and mirror figures use the real spread of Venus inside the sign, in steps of a tenth of a degree. All values use the tropical zodiac, seen from Earth.
