Uranus left Taurus for good on 26 April 2026, at 00:51 in Universal Time. In New York it was still the evening of 25 April. That exit sent a wave of people to search engines with two questions. What was that stay about? And was I born with it?
The second question has a clean answer, and it is not a year. Uranus crossed into Taurus three times and left it three times. So the answer is a list of dates. This page gives you every one of them, to the minute, checked against two separate sources. Then it looks at what the placement means in a chart.
The six crossings of 2018 to 2026, to the minute
A sign is one twelfth of the zodiac, a 30 degree slice of the sky. Uranus sits at the Taurus door for months at a time. It steps in, backs out, and steps in again. Here is each crossing. The first time column is in Universal Time, the clock of Greenwich. The second is the time on the US East Coast.

These times come from JPL Horizons, the public service that NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab runs for planet positions. Its model is called DE441. We asked it where Uranus stood every five minutes around each crossing. Then we found the moment it touched the line.
We ran a second, separate check with a code library called astronomy-engine. It found the same six days. Its clock times land 10 to 27 minutes from the JPL ones, because the two models differ by a hair of arc. So a birth time within half an hour of a crossing is a true edge case. A full chart from an exact birth time settles it.

Most tables print one line, 2018 to 2026. That line is wrong for four of the nine years it covers. Only babies born in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 are safe. For the rest, the day decides.

Two birth nights need extra care in the United States. The first is 7 November 2025. A baby born in New York after 9:19 pm has Uranus back in Taurus. A baby born that morning has it in Gemini. The second is 25 April 2026. A New York birth after 8:51 pm, or a Los Angeles birth after 5:51 pm, has Uranus in Gemini. That is why some US sites give 25 April as the exit date. They are right for their own clock.

Seven years? What the stay really lasted
You will read that Uranus spends seven years in each sign. That is 84 years split into twelve even parts. The sky does not split it evenly. Here is what the last visit really gave, counted in days.

So the true time in the sign was 7.28 years. That is a bit more than seven. The gaps add eight months on top, which is how you get close to eight years on the calendar.
We then ran the same count on every visit from 1515 to 2612. That is fourteen visits in all. The time spent inside Taurus ran from 7.24 to 7.58 years, with a middle value of 7.33. Not one visit came in at seven years or less.

Why Uranus crossed the same line three times
Uranus never truly turns around. Earth is the faster of the two, and it laps Uranus once a year. While Earth passes, Uranus seems to slide backward against the stars for about five months. Astrologers call this a retrograde period, from the Latin for stepping back.
When that backward slide lands on a sign line, the planet crosses it, backs over it, and crosses again. Here is the key fact. In all fourteen visits from 1515 to 2612, Uranus entered Taurus three times and left it three times. Not once in eleven centuries did it make a clean single pass. The triple crossing is the rule for this sign, not a fluke of 2018.
You can see it in the turning points. On 7 August 2018 Uranus stood still at 2 degrees 33 minutes of Taurus, then began to slide back. It fell back into Aries in November. On 6 January 2019 it stood still again at 28 degrees 36 minutes of Aries and turned forward. At the far end the same dance took place. Uranus turned back at 1 degree 27 minutes of Gemini in 2025. It turned forward at 27 degrees 27 minutes of Taurus in 2026.
Why Taurus gets a long visit
The path of Uranus is an ellipse, a slightly squashed circle. Near the Sun it moves faster, and far from the Sun it moves slower. It reaches its far point while it stands in Pisces. Taurus sits just two signs past that point, in the slow part of the loop. So the planet takes its time there.
How common is Uranus in Taurus?
We asked a simple question. Over a very long span, what share of all moments has Uranus in Taurus? A perfectly even split would give each sign 8.33 percent.
Taurus gets 8.80 percent. That is about one birth in eleven. Only three signs get more: Pisces, Aries and Aquarius. At the other end, Virgo gets 7.59 percent. That is the fast side of the orbit. So a Taurus group is about 16 percent larger than a Virgo group, for no reason but the shape of the path.
The time span matters a great deal here. Take only the years 1950 to 2010, which many modern samples use. Uranus never once entered Taurus in those sixty years. The share drops to zero. Take the years 1900 to 2100, and it is 7.30 percent. Neither span tells you how common the sign really is.
So we used ten full laps of the zodiac, from 21 May 1683 to 1 June 2520. One lap, measured against the signs, takes 83.7 years. That is a little less than the 84 years the planet needs to circle the Sun, because the signs drift slowly against the stars.

The visit before, and the one after

People born in that window are 84 to 92 years old in 2026. Every one of them lived through what astrologers call the Uranus return. That is the moment Uranus comes back to the exact degree it held at your birth. For this group it had to happen between 2018 and 2026, since that is when Uranus crossed every degree of Taurus again.
The next visit starts on 25 April 2102 at 23:12 in Universal Time. Uranus backs out on 16 Dec 2102 and returns on 30 Jan 2103. It first steps into Gemini on 15 June 2109, backs into Taurus on 8 Dec 2109, and leaves on 3 April 2110. A child born today will be in their mid seventies by then.
What the sky did while Uranus was in Taurus
Two slower sky events framed the stay. We timed both with the same two tools.
The first was a square between Saturn and Uranus. A square is a 90 degree angle, and astrologers read it as friction between two forces. Saturn stands for rules and limits. Uranus stands for the sudden break. The square was exact three times. The dates were 17 February, 14 June and 24 December 2021. Uranus sat between 7 and 13 degrees of Taurus each time.
The second was a meeting of Jupiter and Uranus. Astrologers call a meeting a conjunction, when two planets stand at the same degree. It fell on 21 April 2024 at 02:27 in Universal Time, at 21 degrees 49 minutes of Taurus. Jupiter and Uranus meet about once every fourteen years. This was the first time they met in Taurus since 1941.
Astrologers read Taurus as the sign of money, land, food, the body and what we hold as ours. Those who track this cycle point to the years it covered. Money moved to phones and screens at speed. A run on Silicon Valley Bank in March 2023 took less than two days. US rules cleared funds tied to bitcoin in January 2024. Farming and food prices swung hard. A match in time is not proof of cause. It is the way astrologers read a slow planet, and you can weigh it for yourself.
What Uranus in Taurus means in a birth chart
Uranus was found on 13 March 1781 by William Herschel. Modern astrologers link it to the sudden break, the new idea, the exit no one planned. Richard Tarnas, in Prometheus the Awakener, tied it to the Greek figure who stole fire from the gods. Liz Greene gave it a whole book, The Art of Stealing Fire.
Taurus is an earth sign, ruled by Venus. It is also a fixed sign, which means it holds on. Put the two together and you get a clash. One wants to change the ground. The other wants to stand on it. Astrologers read this group as people who will rethink money, work, food and ownership, but in a hands on way.
Keep the scale in mind. Everyone born in the same seven years shares this sign. Robert Hand and Stephen Arroyo both treat the sign of a slow planet as the mark of a generation. The personal part comes from two other things. One is the house, the area of life where Uranus lands. The other is the set of angles it makes to your Sun, Moon and rising sign.

Is Uranus in fall in Taurus?
Some modern books say so. Here is where the claim comes from, and how much weight it can carry.
The old system of dignity ranks each planet by sign. A planet is strong in the sign it rules and in its sign of exaltation, a kind of honoured guest. It is weak in the sign facing each of those. The weak spot facing the exaltation is called the fall.
Ptolemy set this system down in the Tetrabiblos in the second century. William Lilly used it in Christian Astrology in 1647. Both books cover seven bodies, the ones you can see with the naked eye. Neither says a word about Uranus. It had not been found yet.
In the twentieth century, some writers gave Uranus an exaltation in Scorpio. The fall then lands in Taurus, the sign facing Scorpio. Other writers chose a different sign, and some chose none. Either way, a label like this changes nothing about the dates or the share we measured above.
