Born facing a Leo Sun

The cause is the Sun’s speed. The Earth’s orbit is not a perfect circle. So the Sun seems to move fastest in early January and slowest in early July. From 1600 to 2400, it spends 31.3 days in Leo on average. It spends only 29.6 days in Aquarius.
An Aquarius Moon meets the Sun only while the Sun crosses Aquarius. It faces the Sun while the Sun crosses Leo. The second window is about 1.7 days longer each year. So more Aquarius Moons are born facing the Sun than beside it.
For this couple, both partners carry that tilt. 16.15 percent of these couples include at least one full moon birth. Only 15.30 percent include at least one new moon birth. On the full moon side, this pair ranks 6th of the 78 Moon pairs. On the new moon side, it ranks 74th.
The gap is small, less than one point. It is real, though, and it comes from the calendar, not from chance. Our two methods agree on it to the second decimal.

One host for both Moons: Saturn
Every sign has a ruling planet, the host of anything placed there. In the old tradition, Saturn rules Aquarius. William Lilly, in his Christian Astrology of 1647, calls Aquarius the day house of Saturn. Capricorn is its night house. Modern astrologers add Uranus as a second ruler. This page follows the old rulers.
Saturn stands for time, rules, and limits. It is the slowest planet the eye can see. A Moon hosted by Saturn calms down through structure. It wants to know where the lines are. It trusts a promise that is kept over years more than a warm word said once.
A shared host is a shared language. Both partners respect space. Both can wait. Neither one needs to be told the same thing twice. They build trust the slow way, and once it is built, it holds.
The same host sets the shared risk. Saturn can turn a need into a rule. Two Saturn-hosted Moons can each decide to handle a hurt alone. Each one gives the other room, and the room gets too large. The distance feels respectful to both, until one of them feels alone in it.

A plain guest in the house of Saturn
Tradition gives each planet four special signs. The home is where the planet rules. The exaltation is where it is an honored guest. The exile sits opposite the home. The fall sits opposite the exaltation. For the Moon, these are Cancer, Taurus, Capricorn, and Scorpio.
Aquarius is none of them. The Moon there has no major rank. Saturn’s other sign, Capricorn, is the Moon’s exile. Aquarius is not. So the Moon lodges with Saturn without being in a hostile seat. It is a plain guest, neither helped nor hurt by the sign.
That matters for this couple. Neither partner starts from a weak seat. Both Moons stand on even ground. The work here is not about strength. It is about closeness.
Two fixed air Moons
Each sign has an element and a mode. Aquarius’s element is air, the element of ideas, talk, and links between people. Its mode is fixed. Fixed signs sit in the middle of a season. They hold a course once it is set.
Among the 78 Moon pairs, this is the only one where both Moons are in a fixed air sign. Gemini with Gemini is mutable air. Libra with Libra is cardinal air. Taurus with Taurus, Leo with Leo, and Scorpio with Scorpio are fixed, but not air.
The mix gives the pair its style. Air wants to understand a feeling. Fixed wants to keep a view once it has one. Two Aquarius Moons can talk for hours about what they believe. They find it harder to change their minds in front of each other.
How close are two Moons in the same sign?
A conjunction by sign is not always a conjunction by degree. A Moon at 1 degree of Aquarius and a Moon at 29 degrees of Aquarius share the sign. Yet they are 28 degrees apart. Astrologers allow some slack around an exact angle. That slack is called an orb.

These values hold for every Moon pair, because the Moon spends close to the same time in each degree. With an 8 degree orb, fewer than half of Aquarius Moon couples have an exact conjunction. The rest share the sign but not the degree.
What Ptolemy adds, and what he does not
Ptolemy wrote the Tetrabiblos in the second century. In Book 1, he names signs that “behold” each other and signs that “command and obey”. Two Moons in one sign need none of this. They are simply together. Still, the lists show which signs Aquarius has ties with.
There are two ways to read those chapters. Read by whole sign, as the translator F. E. Robbins lists them in the Loeb edition, Aquarius beholds Sagittarius (note 83). Gemini commands Aquarius (note 80). Read by degree, as mirror points in the style of Lilly, Aquarius mirrors Scorpio and Taurus.
None of these links involve a second Aquarius. So the classical tie in this couple is the shared sign and the shared host. It is nothing more, and nothing less.

The Moon spends almost the same time in each sign. From 1600 to 2400, each sign holds between 8.331 and 8.336 percent of the time. So any same-sign pair comes up about 1 time in 144. Any pair of two different Moon signs comes up about 1 time in 72. We do not rank the Moon pairs by how common they are. The gaps between them are smaller than the error of our method.
Check your Moons before you read on
The Moon moves fast. It stays in one sign for 54.6 hours on average, and between 46.9 and 61.1 hours. So on 43.92 percent of days, it changes sign at some hour. A person born on such a day has two possible Moon signs.
Many free tools guess a birth time of noon. That guess gives the wrong Moon sign to about one person in nine, or 10.98 percent. Two noon charts give the wrong Moon pair to 20.75 percent of couples, about one couple in five. An Aquarius Moon born early in the day could be a Capricorn Moon. One born late could be a Pisces Moon.
How we measured
We used two routes that share no code and no star tables. Route one used the Astronomy Engine library. It found every sign change of the Moon and the Sun from 1600 to 2400, each to a tenth of a second. It then summed the time, interval by interval. The noon test used a chart set at 12:00 UTC on each day.
Route two used the Swiss Ephemeris. It read the Moon’s sign every hour over the same span, on a grid set half an hour apart from route one. That makes over seven million points. Neither route drew random numbers. On every Moon figure here, the two routes agree within 0.04 points. The Sun’s days per sign are averages over 1600 to 2400, the site’s reference window. All values use the tropical zodiac, seen from Earth.
What the research says
The largest test of sign matches used the 2001 census of England and Wales. The sociologist David Voas checked 10.3 million married couples. He found no effect of Sun signs on who married whom. A small excess of same-sign couples came from errors in data entry. His paper, “Ten million marriages”, came out in 2007. It covered Sun signs. No test of that size exists for Moon signs.
So the tilt toward the full moon is not a promise, and the shared host is not a warning. They are symbols. Two Aquarius Moons both value space and honesty. The symbols point to where that shared taste helps, and to where one partner needs to step closer.
