Why the tenth house is the fragile one
Picture your chart as a house with twelve rooms. Each room is an area of life, and the planets are the furniture. The rooms are not fixed to the calendar. They turn with the Earth, a full circle every day.
The tenth room sits at the top of that circle. It is tied to the Midheaven, which is the point of the zodiac highest in the sky at the moment you were born. The Midheaven swings much faster than most people expect, and it swings differently depending on how far north or south you were born.
We tested this directly. For six cities we drew 900,000 random moments each and asked whether the Midheaven landed inside the tenth whole-sign house. Whole-sign means each house is exactly one sign wide and begins where that sign begins.

Read the top and the bottom of that column. Near the equator the Midheaven sits in the tenth house nine times out of ten. In Helsinki it does so less than three times out of ten. Same rule, same zodiac, and a gap of sixty points driven by latitude alone.
That matters for anyone reading a tenth-house Lilith. In a northern chart the tenth whole-sign house and the top of the sky are two different things for most of the day. A writer who treats them as one is describing a chart that was drawn near the equator.
This matches what we published before, read the other way up
Our page on Saturn in the tenth house ran the same test and reported the mirror image: the Midheaven sits outside the tenth house in 9.9 percent of Singapore charts and 70.6 percent of Helsinki charts. Our figures here are the same measurement stated the other way up, 90.17 and 29.32 percent inside. The two add to 100 in each city, as they must. We used 900,000 draws per city where that page used 200,000, and the answers agree to a fifth of a point.

Two Liliths, and they disagree about your tenth house

Two versions of that point are in common use. Mean Lilith follows a smoothed average path. True Lilith is the real far point at your exact instant, which astronomers call the osculating apogee, meaning fitted to that moment alone.
Across three million charts the two sit 10.89 degrees apart on average, and up to 30.23 degrees apart at the extreme. Thirty degrees is one whole sign, so the two versions land in different signs on 36.40 percent of charts.

Stack the two problems and the reading thins out
You now have two separate ways to land in the wrong room. The hour decides the house. The method decides the sign, and under whole-sign houses the sign decides the house too.
We measured the first one as well. Drawing three million births and comparing each real chart against the noon chart a site uses when no hour is supplied, the noon chart named the wrong house 91.25 percent of the time.

None of this makes the interpretation worthless. It makes the input worth checking before you trust the output.
How we got these numbers
We drew three million random births, using three separate random seeds of one million each. Date and hour were both drawn, never assumed. Birth latitudes came from bands weighted by where people actually live, so the sample is not spread evenly over empty ocean.
Mean Lilith came from the standard lunar tables in chapter 47 of Meeus. True Lilith came from the real far point of the Moon’s path at that instant, built from the Moon’s position and speed. We rebuilt mean Lilith by a second, independent route and compared the two. They agreed to within 0.0000000000005 of a degree.
The three seeds gave 36.39, 36.37, and 36.43 percent for the house disagreement, which is agreement to within a twentieth of a point. Our twelve house counts add up to the three million we drew, and our twelve shares add to 100.000 percent. The tenth-house counts pass their own arithmetic check: the two single-method counts, minus twice the both-methods count, equal the disagreement count exactly.

The tenth whole-sign house tells you which sign governs your public life. The Midheaven tells you the exact degree the sky was pointing at when you arrived. A Lilith close to that degree reads far louder than a Lilith parked at the far end of the same house.
So the useful question is not only which house your Lilith sits in. It is how many degrees separate it from your Midheaven. A tight gap makes the placement personal. A wide one leaves it as background.
Three checks before you trust the reading
Find your birth time. A birth certificate, a hospital record, or a parent with a clear memory will do. The tenth house is the least forgiving room in the chart about this.
Check both versions of Lilith. Any decent calculator offers mean and true. If they agree, your reading is solid. If they split, read both rooms and see which one you recognise.
Note your birth latitude. The further north or south you were born, the more the tenth house and the top of the sky pull apart, and the more the house system you use changes the answer.
